‘Comet Crazy’ and Caroline HErschel
As part of our composer in residence scheme for the 2021-2022 season, Farnham Youth Choir has commissioned three pieces from composer Russell Hepplewhite and lyricist Helen Eastman. The three pieces together form the ‘Herstory’ song cycle - three songs that celebrate three brilliant women from history: Caroline Herschel, Mary Anning and Katherine Johnson.
Thanks to generous support from Farnham Town Council, we have been able to produce a teaching pack that features the song ‘Comet Crazy’ about Caroline Herschel. We make this freely available to schools to use to teach to pupils and to perform as they wish.
In addition to this pack, we have also been delivering singing workshops to schools across our local area. For the rest of this academic year, these workshops will focus on ‘Comet Crazy’, culminating in the FYC Singing Spree at the Farnham Maltings in June.
If you do sing the song, we’d love to hear about it via our social media: Twitter: @FarnhamYouthChr Instagram: @farnham_youth_choir or Facebook: farnhamyouthchoir
