FYC Senior Choir is an upper-voice choir of up to 50 young singers, aged between 11 and 18 for a wide catchment area centred around Farnham, Surrey. The musical director is Patrick Barrett.
The choir aims to perform to a very high standard across a broadly based and demanding repertoire of both sacred and secular pieces.
Regularly performing in world-class venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall, the choir also ensures it performs locally across Farnham and West Surrey. The choir has regularly been featured on radio and television.
As a regular participant in competitions and festivals, past successes have included Youth Choir of the Year, the National Festival of Music for Youth and international competitions in Italy, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Belgium and Sweden.
Biennial overseas tours have seen Farnham Youth Choir travel to a wide variety of destinations including USA, China, Australia, Italy, Switzerland and Germany.
The choir has also hosted (with home stays) high quality overseas youth choirs visiting the UK. Visitors have come from Australia, USA, Russia and Germany.
12 recordings have been made for general release of the choir with future recordings planned for the next few years.
Entry is by audition, normally in June for the following September but we do accept singers in January.
Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays during term time at the Spire Church in Farnham. Periodic full and half day rehearsals take place at weekends.
