FYC’s commitment to musical fulfillment and excellence is only made possible by employing world class music professionals under the direction of Patrick Barrett; he is one of the UK’s leading choral trainers and is in demand both in the UK and abroad. Furthermore, we depend on a willing and able team of volunteers, all under the guidance and direction of our professional Operations Manager, Liz Chapman.

Our goal is to provide our young people with the best possible experience at FYC; this comes at a considerable financial cost. Our basic running costs (excluding tours) amount to over £25,000 per year. We are hugely grateful to our individual and corporate benefactors who help keep member subscriptions as low as possible, allowing us to maintain the diversity of intake which was core to our founders’ principles. As funds permit, we are able to assist families with subscription payments and we also have a fund reserved for helping members to go on tours where this would otherwise not be possible.

Too many budding young musicians are now denied the opportunity to enjoy singing together as the provision of music dries up in our schools. Although some of our members go on to be leading professional musicians, that is not our raison d'être; indeed, many of our alumni end up as high achievers in other fields. Through music making to the highest standards, we aim to provide our members with life-changing experiences that will equip them for their adult lives, whatever paths they take.
